In the video you can see an example of what we will be doing in Gecko Beats. What we teach are the foundations of percussion, learning rhythm, reading music. We just happen to be using all sorts of alternative instruments like trash cans, buckets and brooms to create sound. The kids absolutely love it and the crowd digs it too!
We can make music with anything
The best part of this club is that we can make music with literally anything we can find that makes noise. Buckets, trash cans, push brooms, pipe and the list goes on. The video above was taken from a prior percussion club with kids in the same age range. Students will learn foundational technique for percussion that they can take to real drums, in addition they will be learning how to read music, understand notation and more.
We will meet on Thursdays weekly after school from 3:30 - 4:30 at Willis Elementary, so no transportation needed!
